My favourite pub on the list, and a proper old-fashioned Soho boozer. It’s small, lively and completely unfussy, with drinking outside meaning grabbing a spot on the pavement and watching the world go by.

Time your visit right and you can pick up something excellent from the nearby Berwick Street Market to go with your pint (hence the particularly generous food rating).

This definitely isn’t one for pristine toilets or polished gastro-pub vibes. But if you want a proper London pub, full of character and in the heart of Soho, it’s hard to beat.
