The Coach & Horses is pretty much everything you want from a great London pub. Sitting on Leyton High Road, this independent free house has a brilliant selection of beers and plenty of choice when it comes to food. You can stick with some genuinely good pub classics, or try something a little different from their rotation of kitchen residencies.

There’s usually plenty going on too, with regular pub quizzes, live music and loads of screens for watching the sport. Out the back, there’s a sizeable beer garden with covered areas and heaters, so it’s a good option even when the London weather isn’t playing ball.

A proper all-rounder and one of Leyton’s best pubs.
